Research

The group is working on chemical and crystallographic problems in the fields of solid state, molecular, and coordination chemistry. Thereby the focus is lying on fundamental studies in

  • heavy metal-arene-π interactions
  • interactions between stacked π-electron systems
  • hydrogen bonding
and
  • principles of building and organisation of solid-state compounds, whose structures and properties are dominated by above types of chemical bonding.
Against the background of these higher-level questions modern methods of

  • synthetic chemistry
  • chemical crystallography
  • computer chemistry
are presently used to work on the following fields of research in inorganic and metal-organic chemistry.
